De Kwakel – Last Thursday, June 24, a large drug bust was made in a farmhouse on the Hoofdweg in De Kwakel. No less than 2,993 kilos of cocaine and 11.3 million euros in cash were found.

Street value 195 million

The estimated street value of the cocaine is about 195 million and is, therefore, one of the largest drug busts in the history of the Amsterdam police.

In addition, six (hand) firearms, silencers, ammunition, and money counting machines were found in the building. The police also found a variety of luxury goods, including bottles of liquor with a value of thousands of euros per bottle, a luxury book of about 12,500 euros, and an expensive old-timer. Several items have been seized.

Two people were arrested that same day. A 54-year-old man was arrested at the home in question. A 29-year-old man from Hilversum was arrested in Aalsmeer. Both are suspected of involvement in the large-scale drug trade.

South America

The detectives have strong indications that the cocaine comes directly from a drug line from South America. More arrests are not ruled out. The examining magistrate ordered Monday that the two suspects remain in custody for at least another 14 days.
